[Walnut Creek, Ca.] Zakiya Thomas Dies after Fiery Car Accident on Highway 680 in Walnut Creek.
Vehicle lost control on Interstate 680 exit ramp
Walnut Creek, CA (September 1, 2020) An accident happened on August 25, 2020. Furthermore, it was on a Tuesday evening at around 10:40 P.M.
Zakiya Thomas, 18 years old, was identified on Monday by the Contra Costa County coroner’s office. Also, she was only one of three people who died.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the car accident occurred in Walnut Creek by the North Main Street off-ramp near Highway 680.
Next, the Pontiac Grand Prix was being driven by Zakiya Thomas. She was driving at a high rate of speed. As a result, the car unexpectedly swerved off the highway.
Moreover, the car swerved into roadside vegetation and head-on into a tree.
Furthermore, the collision with the tree caused the car to catch fire. Thus, the three occupants remained trapped inside. Unfortunately, Zakiya Thomas was among them.
