Christopher Smith Arrested for Hit-and-Run Accident in Chinatown
LOS ANGELES, CA (September 04, 2020) – A hit and run crash happened in Chinatown. Moreover, it was on North Broadway Street. As a result, the arrest of Christopher Smith was made by local authorities.
The accident occurred Friday afternoon. Furthermore, it was at around 5:00 p.m.
Initially, authorities reported that a 70-year old woman was struck by a car. The car was a Black 2003-2006 Mercedes Benz C230. Also, it still had dealers issued plates on it.
The vehicle was making a left-hand turn when it struck the pedestrian. As a result, the 70-year old victim suffered from a brain bleed, as well as a broken neck, pelvis, and clavicle.
First responders rushed her to the local hospitals’ ICU for treatment.
A preliminary investigation conducted by the Central Traffic Division revealed that the driver stopped his vehicle and got out to check on the victim. Then, Christopher Smith still fled the scene of the crime.
“The driver failed to stop, remain at the scene, render aid and identify themselves as required by law,” one LAPD spokesperson stated. “The pedestrian sustained multiple blunt-force trauma injuries because of the collision.”
