[Lincoln, CA] – John Haugen Passed Away, One Other Hurt in Head-On Collision on Athens Avenue
John Haugen of Rocklin Killed in Head-On Crash, Gary Barbier Injured on Athens Avenue
December 30, 2020 – John Haugen, age 68, was killed on Monday afternoon around 11:30 A.M. Moreover, Gary Barbier, age 59, was also hurt in a head-on crash on Athens Avenue.
Also, the fatal incident happened at the intersection with North Foothills Boulevard.
According to witnesses, Mr. Haugen was driving a Chevy SUV at a slow speed heading east on Athens Avenue. Then, he began to swerve in the lane causing him to strike a white Ford Utility truck head-on.
Additionally, one witness told officers that it looked like Mr. Haugen might have had a non-specified medical emergency.
Unfortunately, when emergency responders arrived, they located Mr. Haugen in the driver’s seat non-responsive and was pronounced dead at the scene.
In The Aftermath
Meanwhile, the Ford driver, Mr. Barbier, suffered minor injuries. As a result, emergency responders transported him to Sutter Roseville Medical Center for treatment.
Furthermore, official authorities do not consider drugs or alcohol to be factored in the fatal accident.
Still, emergency workers shut down traffic lanes in the area for about two hours for the investigation.
